Combine style and function for whatever journey you are taking

Convertible Pants
These type of pants are perfect for versatility in sightseeing. We've all run into times when you start the day and it is cool, but warms up as it progresses. There are also times when your activities change in the day, but you don't want to carry a change of clothes with you. I was extremely thankful for mine when I was in Jerusalem's Old City, it was extremely warm and wanted to wear shorts, but needed to cover to see specific religious sites. There are lots of options, but I like the ones by Eddie Bauer that are stylish, but also have good pocket security.
Travel Shirt
The right weight, breathable, multi-function shirt is crucial. Especially in climates that are hot. It will allow you to sightsee with proper sun protection (they generally have good SPF built in), keep cool if you need to roll up your sleeves, or even look appropriate for a proper dinner. It also takes up very little weight or space in a suitcase. Again, I like the ones by Eddie Bauer but they are not always available. Mountain Hardware also makes a nice travel clothing line.
General Travel Pants
It's always best to look respectable on the flight and checking into your hotel. Good luck getting an upgrade it looking like a slob. While you don't want to wear sweats, a long flight can be unbearable when dressing up. I have found that wearing a light weight, flexible fabric provides a more sophisticated look while being comfortable. The pants can then also be used for more dressed up occasions on your trip. Slax by Khul are my go to pant.
Non-Metal Travel Belt
You can have all the security pre-check certifications you want, but there will be a time (especially if overseas) when you will be subject to a more strict security check. Having a belt with a plastic buckle is one less step to worry about. Once I made this switch, travel got a little easier. The Bison Belt work well for being in transit, stylish enough to match nicer clothes and also light enough to use on a hike.
Neck Gator
If you are going to be in the hot, bright sun, a lightweight neck gator is great to have. It provides UV protection to head and neck, and also can be crumpled up in a pocket very easy if you want to take it off. It can also be used as a quick drying handkerchief when walking or hiking.
